Dr Jody Tansy is an expert Allergist and Clinical Immunologist who provides personalised diagnosis and treatment plans for adolescents and adults suffering from allergic and immune disorders.

What is allergy?

Allergy is when your immune system reacts to an innocuous substances in the environment called an allergen.  Common allergens are house dust mite, grass and tree pollens, pets, and foods, but it is possible too be allergic to almost anything!   Symptoms can range from mild to life-threat and include inflamed eyes, nose, lungs, skin, or bowel. Read more.

What is an immunologist?

Allergists and clinical immunologists, like Dr Tansy, are highly qualified doctors who are experts in the investigation, diagnosis, and management of allergies, autoimmune diseases, and immunodeficiency. Patients require a referral from their GP or another specialist to make an appointment.

Skin Prick Testing

Skin prick testing is a rapid, safe, and painless test for allergy.  Drops of allergen solution are applied to the forearm and a scratch made in the surface of the skin.  Redness and welts develop over 15 minutes and are measured.  Skin prick testing is useful in the diagnosis of food allergy, allergic asthma, and hay fever.  Dr Tansy is a trained professional in this procedure. Read more.
